We have delivered teamwork programs to executive teams, small workplace teams, whole worksites and organisations.
A few years ago, we facilitated a three-day team alignment offsite to an executive team. The group had a long history of conflict and high stress at their regular meetings.
Over the three days, woven between standard agenda items, we began the process of rebuilding trust and respect. This accelerated rapidly once a few players felt safe enough to be vulnerable and say what they really felt. Interestingly the more vulnerable people became (appropriate to the context) the faster they worked. Trust, it seems, is critical for speed- everything that involves humans takes longer when trust is low.
After the program the team were so aligned and aware of how important this was to the whole organisation they committed to regular (fortnightly) sessions to ensure they maintained the trust they had developed.
